Throttle body coolant hose size?

I just did the TB collent bypass mod, and I don't like how close the hose is to the pulley. I am going to buy a longer replacement hose that goes into the engine after the TB bypass mod coupler and them zip-tie the entire assembly to the main radiator hose, out of the way of the intake and pulley.

So anyway...does anyone happen to have the dimensions of the hose I am talking about?

It is depicted in this pic as being removed from the TB.

I didn't have time to measure it and I won't for a couple of days and I would like to drop by the auto part store on my way home from work tomorrow.

Hmm...I thought they would have been the same size.

I wonder if the coupler I bought from BMR is meant to go in one way? No biggie...I made it fit anyway.

So if I go to an auto parts store and just ask for "1/4 inch radiator hose" that is good enough?

yeah just ask them and tell them what you are doing, they should supply you with something good.

Hmmm! Sure I don't own a Camaro, but Firebirds are the same right? Right.

I just did something similar to what you're trying to do. I did it yesterday, Apr 10th (not that it matters) Well, what lead me to replace my hoses was the fact that when I tried to remove the 5" piece from the throttle body, I had to cut it. The dman thing wouldn't budge! I purchased a BBK 80mm TB and decided not to use the bypass mod.

So anyway, I went to Adv. Auto Parts and asked for a some ¼" hose. That fit wonderfully! I didn't replace the other hose that came from the radiator going to the TB and ended up having a ****ing leak!!! So, I went back to the store and got some more ¼" hose for the other side... I figured that there might have been too much pressure since the hose was 5/16" trying to force coolant into a ¼" hose. Those worm clamps I bought were dman tight too, so...

So far no leak, but the nasty thing about it was trying to get ¼" of hose to go over the nipple coming from the radiator. I had to stretch the hose, which took about an hour with several tries. The bastard hose would NOT get on the nipple w/o some lube! I would have used 5/16" all the way through, but 'cause of the leak, I'm not so sure about it anymore...

So... either get 5/16" and be done quick, or get ¼" and be done later.

that's all

No wonder why one was a real drag to get on.

I was at Pep Boys picking up a K&N oil filter today that I ordered and tried to get the hose. They said they only had gas line that size.

Any good quality reinforced rubber hose will work fine. Gas line is OK. I'd just stay away from plastic hose.

hose size

Did the TBB two weeks ago using the BMR kit. Getting the radiator hose into the coupler was easy, but the crossover tube hose to the coupler was a real bitch. I too felt that the hose was too close to the pulley so I bought some 1/4" inch fuel line hose to extend it in between the pulley and PS pump. I still had problems getting the fuel line hose to fit well into the coupler. I wasn't sure if the fuel line hose could handle the heat so I ordered the throttle body to pipe hose from AutoZone($17). I just got it today. It is a (12" x 5") L molded 5/16" tube. It looks like it will be a great fit from the coupler to the crossover tube. I'll probably have to double clamp the hose at the tube becuase of the bigger size.

the part number is :

63101 Goodyear TB to PIPE hose

How did this work out for you?

I know it is somewhat trivial..but I am considering just getting one long 5/16" hose and going all the way from the radiator to the head coolant line, replacing the 1/4" line. I don't expect it to leak on the 1/4" end if I clamp it REALLY tight or if I double clamp it.

Thoughts?
