Thinking of getting a 98 Z28...Need some input.
I'd like to know what you guys think I should do. I found a great deal on a 98 Z28 (LS1) 6 speed with 67,000 miles for $6,000. The car has been garaged kept all this time and barely used. It was involved in a crash, front. Radiator support was never bent, etc. From my understanding the front bumper and side driver fender was changed.
Only thing I don't like are the headlights with HID. And isn't it missing some plastic piece on the bumper?
Suspension: Bilstein struts and Eibach
Exhaust: Not sure, but aftermarket. I believe Borla.
Aftermarket PCM: Not sure which.
He told me 2 months ago he took the car in to have the car scanned for codes since he's SES light was on. He told me they said his light had to do something with a sensor and it was on because of his after market exhaust. He's going to show me the paperwork from the dealership. Only thing I could think of is that the o2 near the CAT was never re-installed. Or maybe it just failed. Maybe all it needs an O2 Sim? Since I'm new to camaros, do you guys use aftermarket O2 sims (Easy Performance?). I currently got a 1999 Turbo Grand Prix, so we tend to do that on our vehicles.

Price seems good. It looks clean. I would have it taken to a body shop and verify any or lack-there-of frame repair. Get the car scanned, if it is just an o2 sensor, then it may be no big deal. And of course, do the obvious checks: leaks, noises, vibrations, see how it runs, etc.
