I found an 2000 ss mint with dyno proven 425rwhp tons of options and all reciepts showing all work done proffesionally. Only 35000 miles Is it worth $17500

no kidding...even thought he miles are low.

mods don't neccesarily add to value.

what has it got to make the power? hard to say how reliable its gonna be

Re: thinking about buying a ss

another data point,

i would not sell you my 00 SS for that.

if it was yours, would you let it go for that?

low miles, clean condition, proof of mods being quality & dependable.
add to the value, and to your peace of mind when you drive it.

IMO, an 00 is prolly paid for, and he dont "have" to get rid of it, just bored, but knows what it is worth.

Hate to break it to you but mods don't add value. They never have. It's a buyer's market out there

Re: thinking about buying a ss

i mostly meant that the mods were put on by a dependable/reliable shop, vice a bunch of dude's with a Six'er and a left handed monkey wrench.

the clutch/flywheel is a "to do item" on a 00 anyways,
and the other stuff is desirable (by personal opinion, if done RIGHT)

so to me, that's a car that would be worth dropping an extra ~$1500 on
if you say its 3K too high, maybe so, split it with him.

we'd need pic & details (vert, hard top, leather, list SLP stuff) to dig into it,

in other words, i'm jonesing for another F-body. so lemme alone!

i can tell you this, i've looked at more mint cars for high dime, and walked off,
and seen junk for the next few months, then the mint car was gone when i went back.

it kinda depends on how many f-bodies you have had too. we've had 5 or 6, but we have not had a SS as a "play toy" yet. you know, what stage you are in, if you want a hopped up reliable DD, or a beater, or a DD bruiser, or a garage queen bruiser.

this sounds like a car that go lots of ways....

When I was looking around for quite some time, I also noticed finding a clean 6 speed SS was hard. It took me forever and a 6 hour drive to get a clean 6 speed hugger orange one with 35,000 mi. Sounds like an ok price, not great though.

Re: thinking about buying a ss

I'm just going to give you my point of view. I am not parting with my SS vert unless my house is being foreclosed on and that aint happening too soon.

Mods dont' add up to money??? Oh, That is such old buullllsh***!!!

....If done right.

My car ( and many like it) gets TLC every day of it's life as a 425HP-450 HP NA super street daily driver car with 35k miles, (Never use my N20- not necessary with 4:10's, Stage 3 smooth Spec clutch, street tires, not much can touch) It is simply an expression of what I value. Hot, Clean and utterly well maintained.

(Not listed in the sig are Jet Hot LT's, X cats, FTRA, and ZO6 intake, Spohn relos and BMR LCA's and then the Hammer Cam, Titanium retainers and CC springs by Dr. Tom Terrific Cody, all maximized with the legendary JASON TUNE. This is just an examplt that took a LOT of F***ing research and connections. This isn't an EBAY parts bin fellas and I suspect your car in question had many trials and tribulations getting to where it is today...if it checks out with a mechanic.... That is all.

If you sniff one out like mine, you should be good. F an A man! We self stylist hot rodders take it up the pike when we have to sell. Parts alone (Forget about labor) would buy a transplant LS-1 install. Worry warts: suck it up! Stop worrying about 10% of the deal just Take it to your mechanic and be sure it's not a lemon is all.

It's the FUN, not the resale that matters...hey, knock knock...why are we here on Earth anyway? To fritter away our hours or get on the pavement and rock??? OOOOooo let's worry about tomorrow over 2k.

Oh........ I forgot to mention. 4th Gen Camaro was sculpted by the WIND.The SS just kicks it up a bit. That's why toaster and refrigerator designed vehicles are so jealous. SS owners well know even (my personal "dream car": A Ferrari 360 Modena)......When i pass by one the owner actuall hurts his neck looking at my black SS vert. LUST! As do Vipers, Vettes, Porsches, Bentleys....Mustangs don't even rate. Valet's freak out. SS RULES. Keep it maintained as I do.

One more thing. Make it an M6.
Out....................

Re: thinking about buying a ss

Is it worth that price, not going into winter in MN . . . then again, if you really like it just buy it. If the car is already done correctly, you will save yourself alot of time and energy modding would cost - but that is half the fun I guess . . .

Re: thinking about buying a ss

you would be crazy not to buy it i dont think thats expensive.thats alot of horses for the money low miles new vettes dont put 425 hp and cost 3 times as much better change rear end though you will be blowing it up if you get some sticky tires and good launches.
