Was thinking about a 3500 stall..does this sound right?
Will be on the car in the sig, future mods will be full exhaust, intake, and 373 gears. Maybe someday off in the future heads and cam. Thanks for all your help guys.

Anybody else? Any other suggestions as to what I should get or is a 3500 stall a good choice?

a 3500 is plenty streetable...plenty! i should know, i have one. as for the extra heat issue, of course it makes more heat, its a bigger converter. that problem can be solved with an easy $60 for a tranny cooler. now that PT4400 is rather impractical for the street, id stay away from that.

With your basically stock configuration, 3500 will put you a bit high in the powerband in my opinion. I would recommend 2800 or so based on what you are planning in the near future.

Drive XR7 is right on the money. I too am considering a TC change from stock, and I got to ride in the same setup car as mine but it had a 2800, 2.5 STR (Stall Torque Ratio)9" converter in it, and the difference between my stock car and his was like day and night. I'm sure the 2800 stall will put a big smile accross your face, as it did mine.

2800 is ok but you will be like me, happy at first then regret not going to a ST3500. Do the 3500 and be done with it, no loss of driveability.

You'll like the 3500. Make sure you get a tranny cooler put in with a stall like that though due to the heat generation. I don't know if I'd put in the 3.73 gears though... it will be tough to hook up without very good tires. And if you do hook (and you race a fair bit) both the rear end and the tranny will start to suffer. If you are a big city driver (judging by your miles you're not), with a 3500 and 3.73s, fuel economy won't be that good.

Experience speaks loudest. I've tried 4 Vig converters and 5 Yank converters, so I can give ya a little insight.
A 3,500 stall IS NOT too much stall for a stock-internal LS1. There are quite a few guys on www.ls1tech.com with stock-internal engines running 11's with 4,400 stalls. I'm running a Yank Pro Thruster 4400 now, and I drive my car all of the time. I had a Vig 3200 in the car before the current converter, and it actually stalls 3,700-3,800 behind an LS1. P.I. hasn't bothered to restall them for the LS1's. A 3,500 stall is a perfect street/strip converter IMO. It's not too loose to drive on the street, but it still performs well at the track. The Vig 3200 is the perfect choice if you're wanting nice performance at the strip and nice drivability on the street. I was consistently cutting 1.68-1.69 60' times with 3.23's, stock internals, FLP headers, and a few other bolt-ons...just the basic stuff. FYI, as of August 1st, Yank will no longer sell the ST3500. Mike is discontinuing the entire Super Thruster and Torque Thruster line-up. With that in mind, I would get a Vig 3200. It will work just fine with stock programming, and it will net you .5-.6 in the 1/4. It shaved off right at .6 for me in the 1/4 with ET Streets bolted up. We do sell the Precision Industries Vigilante converters at L.G. Motorsports, so feel free to give me a call at the shop if you want to discuss converters more or order one. I'll be glad to help ya out.
