are they needed

Two ?'s

i have a flowmaster muffler is it worth buying a cutout too will it improve performence or would it just be a waste with the muffler

and if i have the free ram air mod would a CAI really be needed i heard they were pretty much the same thing and don't need to be wasting money that could be put forth to other mods

u could weld on a cutout too. this way u can just uncap it when u want to be loud or at the track and cap it back up on the street. i have both and love them. i can make changes based on my wants/mood

u dont need a CAI but a new high flow lid will add to that ram air effect.

hope this helps.

not sure performance wise, cos i haven't been to the dyno since cutout install. but i can say, i have the flowmaster muffler, and the cutout sounds 100% better than the flow.

i've heard it both ways, some say they lost power with the cutout, some say they gained power. i just got it for the sound...

The Flowmaster muffler sucks on my car. ( '01 WS6 )

I ended up with a 3" Flowtech cutout and McCord Power Plate, which gave me a 13 RWHP improvement over the Flowmaster.

Even with an Intake lid, a CAI will help. When I put mine on, I could really feel it. You could really feel it after 35 mph.

I dynoed 7 rwhp with my cutout.

I got 7 rwhp with my cutout open. Now that I have LTs installed I am thinking the Flowmaster exhaust might have to go.. just does not sound as good anymore. I might just look for a way to get rid of the rasp then it might be good again.
