Is there really a big difference between....
The performance data/times of an M6 and an A4 LS1 Fbody? Some of the import and Mustang owners saw my ride looked in it and saw the A4 and started laughing. It kind of pissed me off:mad: They said it's not a real sports car and claim that if it osn't a WS6 or SS i wouldn't stand a chance. I'll show the ignorant fools what the deal really is! I left the doors open for someone to line up and no one took me up on the offer. I hopefully can install my SSRA and Lid the weekend and go hunting a little. Sorry for going on a rant but i was po'ed!

Re: Is there really a big difference between....
well yeah the M6s tend to be a little quicker since they can launch from higher RPMs but that isnt to say you have a fast A4
a guy named ruben with a A4 Vert 2002 STOCK ran a 13.01 at firebird ill see how mine does with this little mods i have still stick it to that 4.6L GT and tell them to shut the ***** up |
Re: Is there really a big difference between....
Some people just talk out their ass. Don't let it get to you. I've had 6-speeds and now I've got an A4. The biggest difference between any M6 and A4 is the driver. A top notch driver can get a stock M6 down the 1/4 mi. faster than he can a stock A4. But, that means slipping the clutch just right out of the hole and powershifting every gear there after. Once you start modding the cars though, it's a different story. I love my A4 now that I've done the mods bellow. I'm not making that much more power than my '99 had at the wheels, but there's almost a full second difference in the times they ran at the track (13.3sec-M6 vs 12.5sec-A4). My point is, the trans you have in the car isn't the biggest variable in how fast your car is. However, an A4 is a hell of a lot easier to maintain consistency, which is what wins in the brackets. :)

You let a Mustang owner laugh at you. :death: A GU5 F-Body (A4/3.23) can run low 13s bone stock. Although they won't trap as high as M6s(-1 or 2mph), they are still pretty quick. A4 F-bodies are no slouch off the line, and 95% of the time, thats where the races are won. |
Re: Is there really a big difference between....
If I was building/modding the sole purpose of winning straight line drag runs, I'd go with an auto with a high stall.
But I still rather have a manual.. :) |

Re: Is there really a big difference between....
just tell him "at least mine doesn't resemble a turd on wheels.." and ask him if he wants to run agaist you, and he can even have lane choice.. and you wont chirp the tires off the line.. and you'll still win.

Re: Is there really a big difference between....
So fellas on the avg how much quicker is the M6 in the 0-60, 1/8 and 1/4? I know they dyno about 15-20hp/tq higher than A4s.

Re: Is there really a big difference between....
a4 = track car, from a dig, a4 will almost always take you off the line.
From a roll, there's a dead spot in the a4 can't recall though since I don't have an a4, but a lot of a4 owners DON'T recommend the roll from x speed to y speed due to the large ratio gap between 2nd and 3rd gear. After or before that dead spot, run to your heart's content and smack those rustang owners up. |
Re: Is there really a big difference between....
So guys what is a 98 TA A4 with 2.73's (yeah, I know), a lid, Borla catback, and a 160 thermo, good for in the 1/4??

Re: Is there really a big difference between....
I used to get that crap with my 70 SS. I'd get the auto crap and the "why didn't you just build a big block crap." I'd laugh and race them and then laugh some more after I left them like they were standing. The fact was I out ran many big blocks and it made for a better sleeper. Use it to your advantage. When people ask you, just say, "Ya, its JUST an auto....wanna run? When people asked about my 70 I'd tell them its "just" a warmed over small block with an auto. Play down your car and then humiliate them. After the race just smile and remind them it was "just" and auto.
I agree, slap a smaller converter in the thing and it'll bitch slap the idiots that laugh. That is if they have the nads to back up their talk. |

You can't add a "bigger stall." Thats just a slang term for what a smaller converter does. |
