Tell me what you guys think

Okay this guy at work seems to be convinced that my car couldn't break into the 13's. I felt insulted that he said this. Anyways, heres the setup. 99 ss, A4, slp loudmouth, k & n, and a whisper lid. What do you guys think? Thanks a lot.

You cant say for sure but more then likely you will be well into the 13s, but i wouldnt worry... LS1s in general run from 12.9-14.0... Your car should at least run mid 13s if not better.

my first time at the track I pulled off concistant low 13's but it was with a more than a couple of bolt ons, but also on 18" rims (no traction) with your intake and exhaust its almost a for certian, I think you should make a little bet. oh with the 16's drop the psi to about 22 psi at the track and it should help alot. try a couple practices run on a back street, holding the brake down and pressing down the gas to alittle over 1000 RPM's and launch (kind of like a power break) and see what kind of traction you get. If you get good traction do the same thing until the TQ starts spooling and starts spinning the tires.

you will definatley get into the 13's as long as you can drive. ive only taken 8 runs at the track ever and 6 of them have been in the 13's. best being 13.5.

I'll add a little to what MARSTAUT said about launching. The way he said is ok, but there is better. (No offense MARS) That way does nothing for chassis preload. What you do is give some gas while on the break then let off the breaks then get on your breaks again real fast. You should feel your chassis lift. Then you can get your RPM up on the breaks for the launch. What this does is elliminate most of the chassis movement you'll have after you launch the other way. Any extra movement after you launch is power not being put to the forward movement of your car.

It will depend upon the elevation and weather at the track. At 700' and 40° I ran 13.0s all day long with the same setup as you. But at 5000' and 90° running 14.5s would be all you could expect.

You always have to factor in the weather and evevation.

I second that. Your co-worker doesn't know how powerful LS1 are. I say you should bet him that car will break 13's

Greed4Speed, I can definatelly see how that would load the suspension better, but I bet it's hard to time it with the tree at the track, I have only been a couple of time and have so much adrenilion runnin' through i bet it would be impossible--I guess I need more practice ans experience.

No timing needed. You preload it after you trip the staging lights then sit with your foot on the break until time to go. Your car will sit preloaded as long as you keep your foot on the break.
