Question Tape Around Lid

A while ago, someone posted about putting tape around the lid to seal off the gap.

I went out and tried this tonight with electrical tape and it fit pretty nice, but then I took it off.

Is there any performance benefit to sealing that gap between the lid and the radiator shroud? Will it make the engine suck air in any more efficiently?

There's always a benefit from getting as cold an intake charge as possible. If you're pulling warm air from the engine compartment into the mix, that just reduces your power potential.
