T56 Problems

I have a 98 camaro ss with the t56 tranny. I have extended warranty from a company called EasyCare. When I shifted gears in the morning it would grind if I did not granny shift it. I had the tranny torn down and there was an updated shift fork and synchro (I beleive, it was along time ago I cant remember.) Well anyways, they put the updated parts in and 3000 miles later it started doing it again. They tore the whole tranny apart and ended up rebuilding the whole thing. I got the thing back and it lasted for about a month. The tranny was not only grinding but sticking in 4th gear so I could not get it out. I brought it in and they took it apart again and it did the same thing. The parts were bad again. Well enough with the story, I just wanted to let you guys know that the cause was because the updated parts didnt work with the old parts in the tranny. I ended up getting a brand new t56 for free with the 3 year warranty. Hope nobody has has these problems but if you do , this may help.

Problems with the T-5 and T-56 borg & warner are very common. What do you want with a company that use to be afiliated with ford. Just hope for the best with the new one.

t-5s are defiently turds, I dont agree with you about the t-56s though. They can handle a lot of punishment and power.
