T-Tops and Leakes ??

Does anyone that has T-tops have a problem right byt the pillar post on either passenger or drivers side where water is leaking down from the front of the Roof Panel and the pillar post rubber meets and running down the window on to the door ??? Since it rained about 4 x this past week in Southern Cali, everytime I open the drivers door on my car, the insider window rubber is Full Of Water.. Only does this when it is sitting in the rain and not when I wash the car... Could this just be normal ??

Never have had a problem with mine. If the water continues to leak in and it's not harming anything I wouldn't worry too much about it?

I have that problem on both passenger and drivers window. Leaks right at the joint of the t-top and windshield. I am planning on taking the car into the dealer to have them do something about it.

Vaseline also works. Thought this was nuts, but tried it, and it does! Cut down on wind noise too!

I don't get much leaking. When I wash the car there will be a little water on the inside of the rubber and a few drops running down the window and in the rubber on the inside. When it rains I'll see maybe 1 or two drops on the window if that. Mostly on the drivers side. I guess I got a little lucky, cause I've heard some horror stories about these t-tops.

Don't use vaseline! I know it seems like a good idea, but it breaks down the rubber!

This happens to me sometimes in one of those quicky touch free laser wash things. It doesn't happen in the rain really, but I know at least a handfull of people who have had this problem too.

Mine leak in the same spot. Had the weatherstrips readjusted 4 times by 3 different dealerships. It doesn't do it anywhere near as bad now, but now I get more windnoise then I used to... seems odd to me. I'm down here in Southern Cali with the rain storms too, and I haven't had any water inside the car. One really good dealership to go to for that kind of thing is Selman Chevrolet in Orange off the 55 and Chapman (west). That's where I get most of my work done and they've treated me really well.

I just use vasoline also, it doesnt get sticky if you just lightly lube it up, as for it breaking down the rubber I think thats just latex that it does that to, Ive been using vasoline on my tops for about a year now and Ive had no problem and my buddy who told me about the the vasoline has a 95 that he bought new and has always used vasoline and his rubber looks like new still. But Im not an expert on the subject, Im just going by our experiances.

Yeah, I'd take it in if I were you........it shouldn't leak like that. I've found mine doesn't leak at all unless I spray the hose directly at the top of the window where it meets the T-top, then a few drips of water will run down the inside of the glass, but otherwise I've been leak-free so far.

Dont use vasoline ever, it contains petroleum, which breaks down rummer over time. This leak probably requires a t-top level adjustment complemented by a windo adjustment. It could also be a result of the door hinges saging slightly, as they do tend to do, even when new. If you get a floor jack and brace the door with a 2X4 or 2X3 loosen the hinge bolts slightly raise the door and tighten the hinges bolts back up, this may correct the problem.

you can get this silicone spray stuff for the t-tops seals.. I usually spray a cloth with the stuff, and then rub it on the rubber. it helps keep the rubber soft.
