Switching out Stock Headers for Aftermarket

I heard that its not much of a gain taking off the stock headers on a LS1 SS is this true...something like 5hp Gain si ALL?

absolutely couldnt be further from the truth.....longtube headers are HUGE on LS1s....most people get AT LEAST 15 rear wheel hp, usually more. personally i changed out the manifolds and cats for longtubes and off-road y-pipe and went from 12.90 to 12.30 with NO other changes.

as far as most are concerned...what came stock on any z28, transam, SS or WS6 were far from "headers"

if you mean swapping manifolds for shorty style headers, which bolt to the stock exhaust..

yeah 5hp is about right...

do longtubes..you wont regret it

Another vote for long tubes. Don't waste your time and money on shorties when you can get longtubes for the same price.

Long tube headers are worth every penny... power and sound ... WOOF ... My recommendation would be Flowtech's or Hooker's.
