Suspension question..

I am looking at putting a set of subframe connectors and strut tower brace on my car. I have been looking around and I was wondering what is the difference other than $$$ in the SLP subframe connectors and the ones from BMR? The SLP's look totally different but is this a case where more $$ is better? Or a case of paying for SLP parts? I found another place that has subframe connectors that they make themselves www.spectaclesolutions.com that look exactly like the ones from SLP, but they are still more expensive than the BMR brand. So anyone that can lend some advice I would appreciate it.

Get yourself the BMRs!!! I promise you will not be disappointed with the quality. As far as I know those are the biggest and strongest SFCs money can buy. We put them on my brother's '95 Z28 and it made all the difference in the world.

I have a bunch of BMR's products on my car - excellent quality and prices.

I wanted to add more to my original question but I had to go to a meeting real quick.. anyway.. I also was going to ask about bolt on or weld? I assume that if it is bolt on then it would be simple enough that I could do it myself, but if it is weld does anyone have any kind of cost estimates for installation?

Thanks for the input so far and to come!

Never, EVER bolt on SFCs. The bolt holes will elongate and deform, leaving you back where you started.

Take the car to a reputable speed shop, and have them weld the SFCs on the car while the car is resting on its wheels, not lifted by the frame.

EDIT: The welding should coss less than a hundred bucks, even by a speed shop.

My vote is for Kenny Brown Double Diamond SFC's. They are the best SFC's period & they are weld on. BMR has good products but KBDD's are stronger than BMR's SFC's. You can feel the diference. They cost about $230 shipped.

Welp, based on the premise that anything is better than stock, I would be looking for the best deals. I understand that spectacle solutions offers the STB's for $60 but I found it kind of hard to get a hold of them and I wasn't too keen on their ordering process; I ended up with one from BMR. The subframes can be had for as little as $119 from Dickey Scoogin (I think) and they are comparable to BMR's. You just don't have the color selection. Choose weld in if you plan on keeping the car but I would pay you if you could find a case of elongated subframe holes. Another item you might want to look into is the 1LE 32 mm sway bar (front as opposed to rear), $89 from GMpartsdirect.com. The very first suspension mod you perform will do wonders. Everything else just adds a little too it, IMHO.

I have Spectacle Solutions SFC, STB and Short Stick on my car and LOVE them.

I know several people here in Memphis that have been running his bolt-in stuff for years and even after several seasons of SCCA autocross and bracket racing plus Test-n-Tune nights at the strip, nothing comes loose or elongates.

Brian's stuff is highly recommended from me.

rncotton I think it was one of your post that lead me to check with Brian about the parts. But like I put in an email to him, I am building a house right now so mod money is EXTREMELY low. There is so much I want to do to the car that I am having a hard time deciding how to spend what little I have. I have a few appearance things I want to do, but I have always had a hard time spending money on appearance when I can do power or suspension for about the same amount. But Brian at Spectacle has been very helpful and responsive via email. But if I am going to do bolt on I might just buy BMR and do the install myself. I dont know.. decisions decisions.. lol. Thanks for all the input everyone!
