Question Suspension clunk in rear...due to mods?

I have the following...

DMS Springs
Bilstein Shocks
BMR Lower Control Arms
BMR Panhard Rod (adjustable)

I notice that when going over bumps at almost any speed, I get this clunking sound. I can't tell if this is from the left or the right, but definitely the rear.

It almost sounds like something is "bouncing". It is not a deep sounding clunk, but a medium one.

Any idea what it could be? I never noticed this before and it really seems like it got worse lately.

BMR is kinda known for noisy parts. My BMR LCAs especially are noisy (compared to stock). The PHR wasn't that bad when I installed it.

I'm guessing you have poly/poly bushings? These type of bushings transmit nearly little noise so it seems.

edit: Make sure you retighten the bolts and add extra grease if necessary.

Check the springs to see if they are seated on the axle properly. Sometimes they will turn a little bit, and wont be flush on the seat. I had this problem on my old car. Turned the spring to get it to the most flush position and it helped a lot, but I always got some noise going over speed bumps no matter what I did.

I used to have rasp from my header mods. Now I have a buzz from 2300-2600rpm's. I think the intermediate pipe is rubbing on something.

Jason,
Grease those poly bushings in the LCAs. They like to grab then let loose causing some noise.

I would like to bet it is a loose LCA bolt. It happened to me in the first 500 miles after my LCA install. Re torque the bolt to 65 LBS. torque to nuts, and see if the banging goes away, I would bet it does.

That is what I am thinking as well based on what I have read. I hope it is that simple!

Cool...that was my next question...what to torque the LCA bolts.

Anyone know what I torque the Panhard Bar bolts to? I wanna double check those.

Thanks everyone!!

I had a similar problem/sound. Turned out to be a busted tranny mount and loose torque arm.

Yours may not be that, but just a thought.

FIXED!

Thanks, guys!

When I had my car up on the lift for the Jet-Hot header install (see my other post) I checked my LCA and PHB bolts. Sure enough, they were all loose.

The PHB was so loose that I could grab it and twist it back and forth with my wrist. There was that much play in it from both ends!

I grabbed a torque wrench and tightened them all up to spec. All cured!

One thing...does anyone know where I can find the torque specs for the shock mount bolts?
