Surging at idle, but only in gear??!!

Surging at idle, but only in gear??!!
Well after swapping out the plugs I now have a surging idle between 500rpm's and 750rpm's If I put the car in park, the surging goes away. Any ideas? The battery was disconnected for a while, could it be that I need to reset the computer idle speed?
