You have to cut the bottom of your airbox out and the plastic shroud beneath it.

Don't just jump into a cold air kit if you haven't done some research.
If you have ignore my post.
In areas where you get average/heavy rainfall, there is a risk of hydrolocking your engine... complete destruction for your engine in most cases.
It is not common, but more than a couple guys have done it.
If you live in like So. Kalifornia or Arizona, I wouldn't worry.
Just food for thought.

i live in south florida...and have had no problem with the heavy rains we get.

you just have to drive a bit more cautiously...and drive slower through puddles.

you have to cut the bottom of the air box out, which i was able to do with a hack saw blade that was broke in half...so obviously it isn't hard.

i don't recall cutting any schroud....you have to remove some of the schrouding...but they all just clip into place with plastic "push pins"

i have some good pics on page 2 of my webpage in the sig

Under install documents they have directions on how to do the FRA mod, SSRA would have you do an extra step or two. Yes, there is cutting involved and I recommend using a dremel tool.

Thanks guys. I am aware of the hydrolocking potential. Fortunately my z28 is a garage queen. She does not leave home in the wet stuff.

I couldn't get the 3 circular snapping pins out of the bottom shroud/bumper to save my life .. so I ended up cutting along the bottom edge with a dremel .. That and the bottom of the airbox are the most difficult parts of the install and they're all too easy .. SSRA is a good mod IMO .. if you want to guarantee you don't hydrolock during a rainy day, buy a piece of foam to jam up there during bad weather .. problem solved.
