I was ready to order them, and now they are illigal, anyone know a good way to improve the lighting, that way it actually looks as if the lights are on at night, Mine are extremly dim..unless its a sign that the bulbs are gonna go...then that sucks, where or what else do you guys know i can aquire HID bulbs and ballasts for a LS1. Thanks.
HID Retrofit kits are now illegal since august, but that ruling doenst cover vehicles that have them from the factory, you just cant install HID lights into a car that didnt come factory with them.
Dont buy those "super white" or "super blue" blah blah crap lights, they are just that crap. go to http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ and get a lighting upgrade kit thats right for you, get some info on lighting, you will find they sell many systems that putout a great amount of light and are more than good enough. you dont need to waste your $$ on HIDs.

ive got the blue or hyper whites...whatever they are called....MAJOR difference from the standard blubs. u can see the road alot better and clearer. they dont have a yellowish glow to them. although they are a tint of blue....everythign is lit up white. i like them.
Correct me if i'm wrong here but i don't think a true HID system has ever come equipped on a factory car. They are just WAY too bright...not to mention expensive. Some cars have xenon lighting (which is different). True HID strikes an electric arc (similar to an arc in a welding application) to create the light no filiments and whatnot. Anyway I"m not totally sure but i severly doubt it.

Like I said check that site I posted above for the truth on lighting systems.

again not to sound like the proverbial "doubting thomas" or whatever but could you name some cars (sold in the US) that come factory stock with HID's.

what they should be worrying about is all the asssmonkeys in their SuV's that have their lights 4 feet off the ground in everyone's face, that's what annoys me. The HID don't bother me at all because it's not directed right in your face like the trucks and Suv's do, just another reason why I can't stand Suv's.
I was reading more about it, and it's because car's that didn't come with it from the factory didn't have them direct light starit towards the ground and were too bright. Even with the lights aimed completly down they are too bright. Housings with cars that have them from the factory where designed to take HID's and will not be illigal.
I don't remember where I read this, either somewhere in this site or on the "other" site, someone had the GM part # for european HID light replacements for 98-02 Camaro's, self-aiming, they ran for about $220.00 each, at least I think that was the price, maybe it was $220.00 a pair...
Can anyone out there confirm this?
