Stroker

What items are required to add stroke to an engine?

Why couldnt you just put a new crank in and leave everything else stock?

Are the connecting rods pistons etc. really essential?

you could put in a 3.5" stroke into an LT1 and reuse everything with a Felpro gasket... but that's only because of the stock assembly being 0.025" in the hole.

That would turn a 350 ci LT1 into a 352 ci stroker!

Seriously though... for any decent stroke increase, you need to either decrease the rod length, or the compression height of the piston (distance from the center of the wrist pin to the face of the piston).

If you don't make the rod/piston combo shorter, the longer strike will throw them into your heads... good bye engine.

General questions should be asked in a general tech forum. Transfering to LS1 Tech (since it seems that is what you have).
