Stroke it or Supercharge it

Getting some money saved up and was just trying to get an idea what I should do. Like the subject line says....stroke it to a 383 or supercharge. On top of that, has anyone had theirs stroked by SLP or MTI or do you all that have had it done gone to a local mechanic? Believe it or not I am willing to travel just about anywhere do get this done. And yes I have done a search before but no one has really compared stroking it to supercharging it. And what kind of money can I look at having all this done? Any replys would be helpful. Thanks,

Travis

From what I've read,

stroke it and be done with it.. don't have to worry about more moving parts, belts falling off, holes in the stock pistons yadda yadda..

Another alternative to stroking is getting the block resleeved and bored to get 382, instead of relying on stroke.. you unshroud the valves for better flow, and can theoretically rev faster..

or better yet, stroke and bore and get around the neighorhood of 422 ci (7 Liters!) add nitrious on top if you _really_ need more power on the track..

Since the mod is internal, you can keep the engine bay looking stock.. hehheh..

It all costs lots of $$$.. then again, if you want to put a supercharger and build the engine right for supercharging, that would cost $$$ too..

I'd give MTI a call... The "Z07" Corvette that won this years One Lap of America had their 7L engine built by MTI, so they have to be doing something right.

I agree..............go with the stroke! You could put a supercharger on there too, but to do it right would require a built engine anyways. Build a solid engine, and you should have more than enough power available. And like Ken said, you could still spray that engine and have a killer combo! Obviously you can put a S/C on a stock LS1, but because of the higher compression of the engine (~10:1) it's too high to take full advantage of the boost effect.

382 all bore would be nice, or the stroker. Hmm...382 all bore solid roller. Thinking, thinking.

thanks for all the replys.......gonna save up for a stroker possibly have it resleeved. And MTI does look like the best choice for now. THanks mates!!
