strange sound

strange sound

got a 99 ss only 24k miles has never given me any trouble today i cranked it up and a sound that can only be described as a "cooing" or low whinning any ideas ??thanx in advance

Its possible that you have a bearing that is making excess noise in one of the accessories. Or it could be something as simple as a drive belt or drive belt tensioner.

I think I know what noise your talking about. It goes away after a few seconds right? Ive always wondered what it is myself, but Ive heard it on many, many of these cars, nothing to sweat about.

The sound you are talking about is your AIR pump (emissions related).
