I wanted to let everyone know that we're running a heads/cam special for the month of December! You can get your choice of camshaft, Patriot stage II LS6-style cylinder heads with your choice of combustion chamber size, and TSP hardened pushrods for $2150.00 + shipping!
Patriot's cylinder heads do come fully-assembled and ready to bolt on. As far as camshaft selection goes, feel free to call or e-mail us for help or suggestions. We need to know about your other modifications, intended use of the car, possible emissions requirements, etc. to select the appropriate camshaft for your wants and needs. FYI, don't worry with running a 112 LSA camshaft in an auto-equipped vehicle. So long as you're getting a quality tune after the new setup is installed, the camshaft will not be a problem. I ran our TSP 231/237 112 LSA camshaft in my '02 SS A4 when I was still running the stock short-block, and I did not have ANY problems. It's all in the tuning. A quality tuner should be able to get the cam to drive and perform well, start easily on cold and warm starts, etc.
As for the 2.02/1.57 valves vs. the 2.055/1.60 valves, Patriot has not seen any benefit thus far in going with valve sizes larger than 2.02/1.57 on a stock bore size due to the added shrouding of the valves. Larger valve sizes should certainly be considered if you are building an engine with a larger bore size.
Pricing between various cylinder head porters will vary quite a bit. Patriot Performance can offer their cylinder heads so much cheaper because of a few reasons:
1. All of their cylinder heads are CNC-ported, so the amount of time spent on porting the cylinder heads is greatly reduced over hand-ported cylinder heads.
2. Patriot Performance works in bulk, so they are able to buy all of their materials at reduced prices.
3. Patriot Performance strives to provide the LS1 market with the best product for the cheapest price possible.
Don't think for a moment that a cheaper price means that you're not getting as good of a product! Patriot's cylinder heads definitely work well. We've run a best of 10.78 @ 124 MPH on a 1.43 60' in our '98 Project Z28 with Patriot stage II LS6-style cylinder heads and a TSP custom-grind camshaft. This run was with the engine tagging the limiter on the 1-2 shift, too, due to some transmission problems! We're going for low 10.50's this winter.
This is my business partner, Jason Mangum's, daily driver, too! I don't mean that he drives it twice a week either. He drives this car to and from work EVERY DAY! It's a sheep in wolf's clothing.
The SLP headers aren't the best when going with an aggressive heads/cam setup. We've seen gains of 8 RWHP with another set of long tube headers over the SLP long tubes. Between the numerous bends in the primaries and the smaller collector, it will hinder power output.
Let us know if you have any other questions. We're also running a special on a heads/cam package with Patriot's stage II 5.3L cylinder heads, and we have specials on just the cylinder heads, too! Just give us a call or e-mail us for special Christmas pricing!
Thanks!

That was a good answer to almost all of my questions.
Only one left... So if those heads are fully assembled and ready to bolt on..why would I buy ...Rockers and lifters ?
Sorry for that question but Im still newb if talkin about Vavletrain, heads and camshaft. New heads come with new rocker arms, lifters etc ?
And about headers...if not SLP what would You recommend ?
Thanks

No problem with the questions. That's what we're here for!
The cylinder heads themselves come fully-assembled and ready to bolt on. Your rocker arms and lifters can be carried over with no problems. The stock rocker arms will work just fine in most applications, and so will the lifters. It really depends on the camshaft, mileage on parts, etc. When in doubt, just ask us and we'll let you know what we recommend as far as these items are concerned.
The PaceSetters, Hookers, Jet Hots, and FLP's all work well. They are all a long tube design that do not have the restrictive bends or smaller collectors like the SLP's. The SLP headers will make the car feel really nice when driving around town due to the low-end and mid-range power, but they will hinder top-end performance. Any quality long tube header will give you some nice power both in low-end and top-end power. The best priced set of LS1 long tube headers right now are the PaceSetters, but they're getting ready to go up in price. As of right now, the coated headers are $339.99, and the uncoated headers are $249.99. Their uncoated 3" off-road y-pipe is $124.99. FYI, PaceSetter is going up in price at the first of 2004 by $50-$70. We have 62 sets arriving this afternoon, but we already have 45 sets sold! So, if you're wanting to get a set pretty quick, I would recommend that you give us a call today or tomorrow. The remaining sets of headers won't last through the end of the week. They always sell VERY quickly!
Let me know if you have any other questions.
