SSRA vs SS hood ram air

Okay, so i wanted to get a ram air kit for my 99 z28, but i'm still deciding whether i want to get the austin SSRA or get an SS hood and have ram air through that. what do you think is better for horsepower and what are the disadvantages of each. also, do you think that SSRA is a better option than SLP ram air or FTRA?

I'll keep it brief as you'll find plenty if you search...
SS hood is pretty terrible as the air has to do a 180. I had one and used a FTRA instead.
The SSRA is a nice piece, but pricey. Good luck!

the ss hood is basically only an appearance mod. the ssra is a true power adding mod. infact, the ssra comes with a tube to block off the air inlet to the ss hood because the pressurized air coming in from the ssra gets sucked out the ss hood. i think the 2 piece design of the ssra makes it the best cai on the market. i currently have an 02 SS with an ssra and love it.

agree with most of the above

while the FTRA is a better option than the SS hood. i think the lower scoop design of the SSRA is better than the FTRA.

alot is personal preferance, and i can't say i've tried the FTRA. but i'm very happy with my SSRA

cai at slow speed, ram air at higher speed.

Get the ssra and don't look back ! It's easy to install and works like a charm .

Thanks guys, i just got my SSRA and can already see better power on the highway
And I dont know if it's just me, but i think I'm actually getting better gas mileage with it on. I usually drive about 170 miles between my base and home, and i think that I'm using about 1/8 or 1/4 gallon less now with it on. Anyone else seen improvements like this?
