SSRA or SLP cold air-induc.
Re: SSRA or SLP cold air-induc.
the SLP unit is just a cai....pulling air in before it goes over the radiator
the SSRA is a ram air scoop at higher speeds and a fully functioning cai at lower speeds. it pulls cooler air in when going slow, and it functions as a ram air at speed.
which sounds better
somebody on here tested the SSRA at the track, then pulled the scoop off, making it viturally identical to the SLP cai...and lost a solid .10 sec in the 1/4 mile.

Re: SSRA or SLP cold air-induc.
the link in my sig is a good place
install is identical to the free-ram-air mod plus about 10 minutes of extra work....simple
i live in south florida...land of hurricanes...and have had NO problem with rain.
in over a year i've cleaned my filter 2 times...neither were particularly bad..just a simple rinse with the hose like any normal K&N cleaning

Re: SSRA or SLP cold air-induc.
install takes about an hour if you're blind and only have one arm.
Oh, and no problems here either... then again my car never sees rain, snow, very cold, or very hot days. So--- my filter rarely needs cleaning no matter where or how I'm driving. Can't tell you much as far as the rain goes. Is it worth the extra $$? That's for you to decide, I got a bargain price on mine though and I don't have anything bad to say about it.

1). Cut a piece of hard foam to fit the bottom insert and put it in whenever it rains. This is by far the fastest and easiest way.
2). Get a small piece of flat metal to use as a blockoff plate. This would be installed under your airbox between it and your first SSRA scoop. When it rains hard you put the plate in and when it's nice you remove it.
3). Remove the bottom scoop that attatches to the bumper. If you keep a screw driver handy you could always remove the 5 or so screws that attatch the second scoop to your front bumper. This is kind of a pain but it'll basically make your SSRA a CAI and keep it safe from water providing you don't drive through 2' of standing water.
