SS Hood

I am picking up a Suncoast SS Style hood pretty soon, and I noticed they sell the AirBox for 300+ Dollars.. I was wondering if this would be semi-functional without that box? I noticed a slit under the current box that would appear to contribute to the "Ram Air" effect.. Do I need that to Work? Would any other Filters/Boxes work with it?

The air box that comes with the hood only draws air through the scoop, nowhere else. I had one on mine and below 3000 rpm it was a dog, after that it came alive. After I went back to the standard air box I had more useable power.

Or you can just leave the non-functional SS style hood on and just use one of the aftermarket ram-air; ssra, ftra, slp cold air, there's probably more that i didnt mention....but yeah just wanted to give you an option on what else you can do.
