ss exhaust

ok, it seems the opinions on the ss exhaust is rather varied. ive heard its the first thing you should replace and i have heard that its not worth replacing unless you just want a louder/more agressive sound. so i have questions. first off, is there a different exhaust for the 325 hp package and the 345 hp package? secondly, is there a website where i can actually look at static numbers for the different ss exhausts (assuming there is more than one available from the factory/slp) vrs the "top of the" line from the factory z28 exhaust? that way i can better gauge what i have vrs what is available and whether or not its worth my money.

thanks guys .

Hmm, I'll give this one a shot. That I know of there are 2 differences between the 325 and 345 (or 335 w/o the airlid) setups. The 345 has a 3 inch I-pipe and a different muffler (or catback if you prefer). The muffler is a very good flowing muffler. I had the 345 package on my SS. When I changed out the muffler for my GMMG I picked up 5 or 6 hp. When I opened my cutout with the GMMG I gain about 5 hp. So a cutout on a 345 package will give you about 10hp.

I don't know of a web site to look at this.

i am pretty sure the exhaust option on those were the SLP "Dual Dual" which is a great flowing exhaust....and that with the lid made the 345 version....

Any of the aftermarket exhausts you purchase from SLP should be 3" systems. Any of the aftermarket exhausts you purchase - period - should be 3" systems (save the Mufflex 4"). That's why there are so many different styles to choose from, I would say that performance-wise they are all in the same general range. It mainly comes down to sound preference.

My '02 SS came with the 335 HP package. SLP Dual Center exhaust with stock lid.

I love it. It wasn't cheap though. Here's a pic in case you're not familiar with them. Under the car it looks pretty much like every other SLP cat back I've seen. But instead of just running the pipes straight back they're longer and run from the normal outside position back into the middle. It may even lose a bit of flow due to this. But it looks cool, sounds great and was on the car when I bought it. So I'm very happy with it.

sweet, thanks 2002Z28SSConv. link fall down go boom though . getting a remote linking forbiden. do i need to be a member of something to view it?

hmmm, so if im reading the responses correctly thus far it seems that there isn't a cat back system that would be much of a hp increase. sound probably. performance? not likely or marginal. well, that frees up cash for other mods .

thanks for all the replies
