Squeak/Squeal from front of engine
Squeak/Squeal from front of engine
I have this high pitched squeal comming from the front of my engine. It's definately belt/accessorie related but I can't quite put my finger on where exactly it is comming from. It does get louder as the engine revs as well.
This only happened right after I got stuck driving in some serious rain, and when I say serious, I mean probably 4-6 inches of rushing water (flash flood).
It was brought up that it could be the tensioner, and maybe it got wet and ruined/flushed out the grease inside of it.
Any thoughts?

Re: Squeak/Squeal from front of engine
probably the tensioner, spray a little wd-40 on it see if that stops the squeak, if it does you have your answer, if not...
it is almost definitely a pulley and is usually the tensioner.

If it's still dong it then pull the belt off and rotate each item by hand. You'll feel which one is bad. It will wobble, squeak, or feel rough.

What size ratchet do you need to rotate the tensioner to get the belt off.
Re: Squeak/Squeal from front of engine
i just went back out and sprayed the AC tensioner with no effect whatsoever. It's definately comming from the belt, a pulley/tensioner, or something the belt is spinning (ac, alternator, wp, something)
I guess sat morning I'll pull the belt and spin them by hand, see if anything is noisy and replace the belt just for the hell of it. It looks plenty good, and my car only has 25k on it, so its not that old.
