Speedometer

I have a 98 camaro ss with the manual transmission and was wondering if anyone knows how to turn the mileage back or at least how to make it so the mileage doesnt increase anymore. It has the digital odometer reading.

Thanks

Heres an idea....stop driving the car cause you obviously don't care about it.

Probably not a good idea to come to an enthusiasts site and ask a stupid question like that.

my odometer in my WS6 came set to where the mileage won't "roll over" The speedometer or trip meter doesn't work though.

There is a website where you can buy the perhiperals and the software to do this yourself, or you can send yours to them and they will put the mileage of your choice on it. You'll have to find it though, i don't want to tell be a part of the fradulent process! lol j/k no, for real i cannot remember the name of the site

It is in the computer (ECM) and no, GM has not released the code information to modify that. Nor will they, it is big time illegal. Digital OEM odometers are much harder to modify for that reason. If you are a serious hacker, you may find out how to do it. Question is, why do you want to do it? If you want to keep the miles off, get a beater car and store this one.

not resetting mileage

I only drive my car 8 months out of the year and I put 20,000 on last year. My car is up for the winter and I the car is on my mind
all the time so I just ask whatever comes in my head. It now has 50,000 miles, which is alot for a 98. Im just gonna not drive it alot this year. I have a beater. I really wasnt planning on resetting the mileage , I just hate how many miles I have put on my baby.

Always remember me when you get saddened by the mileage on your car ... 2001 with over 76,000 miles! But I am enjoying every minute of it.

I put the cut-out in the intermidiate pipe right before it went up and over the rear axle. About the only place it will fit.

Hmmm,so you would rather just rack up miles on your car that you have no idea about? It's better to know how many miles are on the car so you can do proper maint. Also, 50k isn't a lot for a 1998.The average is around 60k.

Well I know how to do it but I am not telling. I might be the one to buy that car with the bogus mi. on it..... anyhow it really doesn't matter how many mi it has on it. it matters how well you take care of the car...
