Sound of Borla?
Hey, I'm thinking of getting a Borla catback for my 99 Z28. I plan to keep the stock y pipe, stock cats, stock exhaust manifolds because emmsions tests around here suck.
So what does the Borla sound like when closed all the way off and everything is running through the muffler? Is it quiet enough to not drive me nuts on the interstate. I have a cutout that dumps under the rear seat right now, but I closed it up because it vibrated and rattled the plastics inside my car and drove me nuts on the interstate. And it turned my floorboard black too. Although the sound at ALL RPMs with the cutout was absolutely perfect.
Now does the Borla, through the muffler sound close to the open cutout sound? I mean sound, not volume. And don't tell me to go to LS1.com sounds because all of the clips on there are without the plate and sound like my cutout.

That even with the smallest plate in place ( not the blank one, though
) that the Borla is a bit loud on the highway for me.
I have gotten used to it, but a quiet highway cruise is nice, and makes the radio easier to hear as well.
My buddies '00 SS w/ the SLP dual/dual has a pleasing note inside the car, but is not objectionable. Outside the car it is pretty quiet, though - weird.
He also comments that he can't really throw a good rev when he wants to - I have no problems there.
I do like the healthy burble my car has at idle - the closest I can describe the sound is if you have ever heard a true dual exhaust car w/ glass packs.
I had a '77 T/A w/ the 400 Poncho like that - schweeet !
Are there any local area car clubs you can hang out with ? The best thing would be to hear one - and ride in one - and determine for yourself.
