Angry Some engine noise like bad gasoline

Hi, I feel so scared because my Camaro has some noise like bad gasoline or bas time sincronization.

When Im in the street and pull the gas for more speed, hear that noise only in the moment that I pull the gas (about 1 sec) then stop that noise, First I tought thas may be the gasoline, so used GAS treatment but it doesnt stops.

I am scared because I know that noise is really the valve crashing in the piston and I know that isnīt good, a friend told me that may be the timing belt tensor that would not having enough presure so, the belt is weak so is like lose some syncronization.

What do you think? (sorry for my english, I am from Mexico)

If your vavles were hitting your pistons it would have blown already. The problem is something else.

What I mean is the noise (I dont know how to say in english) like rattle, the noise that makes when the valves hit the piston.

I hear to noisy the engine, like lifters too.

what octane gas are you using? what mods do you have?

LS1s dont have timing belts, and no tensioner.

Question

The best gasoline in Mexico is "Premium" and has 95octanes.
I already has 2 Camaros (Lt1 and Ls1) and nigther of them were so noisly.

Are you sure that LS1 dont have timing beltītensioners?, the person who told me that, has a workshop, he fixes cars and he review in some magazine that, and saw that mi cars has timing belt and tensioners.

My car did exactly the same thing when I was using 87 octane. I switched to 91 octane and put one bottle of some gas additive (which gave it a higher octane I think) and the noise went away...I did put some 101 octane in it and it ran sweeet. I am pretty sure it is the gas.

I really hope so, but, I put the SLICK50 treatment in fuel and oil, and donīt feel any change.

Im scared if the engine may damage.

Not sure what the gas quality in Mexico is like...are you sure what your getting is premium? I would make sure that it is, and then run a fuel system cleaner in and maybe change the fuel filter. Sorry I couldn;t be of more help....just some ideas.

See if you can get some Toluene (check a professinal paint store). Search the internet for "homemade octane booster" and you'll see how to increase your octane (not like the .1 "points" that you get when you buy it from the auto store)

I'm leaning more on the bad gas thing. I was in Monterrey for a couple of summers (1988 and 1990) and I remember how bad the gasoline was down there.

My 2001 Z28 sounded awful when it ran anything under 93 octane.

Is Courious but, I already had a 96 Lt1 and 98 LS1 Camaros, and neither of them, had that problem.

I heard right now too much noise of the lifters and feel too vibrate the car so, I think may be that, the lifters are not working like they need, so, may be thatīs why make that noise of bad gasoline.

Here in Mexico, that noise is known like "cascabeleo" beacuse the sound is like the snake do, but I dont know how is the concept in english

Cool

I think the gas thing may be a problem, id check into that. also, i think the lifter tick your hearing may be a bad belt tensioner. ive had the problem 2 times and its still there. The tensioner pulley on the top passenger side has bearings in it that more than often go bad. you can replace it for $12 at murray's auto parts, but i dont know where in Mexico. LS-1's have timing chains that are a lot better than belts in that they dont stretch like a belt.

Yes I know that they dont stretch, what I mean is that the timing belts has a hidraulic tensioners that may be weak so may cause that lose some syncrony and then do that noise, do you think that?

Not tensioner on the timing chain in the LS1 engine.

THe only self tensioner that I know of on the LS1 is for the accessory belt. Yes that one has isues, but it sure wont cause the problem you're having.

I've heard that slight rattle before as well, it normaly happens when I buy the cheapo premium and get a bad tank.

In addition, dont use slick 50 gas treatment. Every study on that (including my own personal use) says that stuff is crap

Thaks for the advise but already use it!.

The point is, that I want to sell the car, because if something happens and broke the engine, it will cost me at least here in Mexico and used $1,500dlls and with only 25,000miles, isnīt correct to be thinking on that.
