Question So what maintenance should i do on my car before i head back to school?

Well, what should i do before i head back down to Jax here in 2 weeks while i still have the luxury of a garage and private driveway? The car has 62K miles on it now, and i bought it when it had around 50K and all ive done on it so far are the oil changes and transmission fluid change. What else should i do? Ive got new tires on order for it, and theyre going on it next week. Should i change the spark plugs and wires? Is there anything else i can do to it at 62K? Also, what other maintenance do i have come up? (ex: 70K, 80K, 85K miles, ect...)

I'd go pick up your girlfriend before she sticks a banana in your exhaust.

I would go ahead and do the plugs and wires as well. Even though they are platinum plugs with a supposed 100K mile life, they don't live as long as advertised.

Coolant and brake fluid if they've never been done.

I would say do a full brake job, tuneup, and replace battery...

All of these were EXTREMELY necessary and done at around 70K for my car and the rotors were warped at about 65K

Fuel filter
Air filter
flush/change coolant

Also, what are the recommended mileage intervals for these things?

Oil Change - Every 3K (duh)

Spark Plugs / Wires - GM says 100,000 miles and I'll be the many to conclude that GM is F.O.S... My plugs were fouled to HELL at just 70K and were in desperate need of replacement. #8 Plug was pitch black and covered in oil. All the platinum was gone on each plug.... Replace with NGK TR55 plugs, Plats arnt necessary...

PCV Valve - 10 - 15K???

Fuel Filter - 15 - 20K???

Air Filter - 15K??? (I just clean mine when it gets dirty...)

Coolant - GM says 150K, once again I'd have it done WAAAAAY before 150K... 100K tops, also Dex Cool has a tendacy of becoming acid enough to eat away the plastic resivior under the battery.

Brakes - Whenever they wear down, they can vary ALOT depending between cars and how you drive.... Mine needed a full brakejob at 70K and my front rotors were warped to hell...

if you use high quality synthetic engine oil and oil filter, you can push it out to 6k miles.

I just use the standard Mobil 1 synthetic (not the 15K brand) and AC Delco or Pure One Filter... Is that good enough for 6K? Tell me because I'm all about saving money!

Check your serpentine belt to see if there are any cracks, although a squealing noise will generally let you know your belt is worn.

Are there any chassis grease fittings on F-bodies that should be checked?
