Question SLP Smooth Air Bellow

Anyone use this, and find a difference? I have been considering one for my 2000 Trans AM, along with the SLP air lid. So I suppose i am wondering if the bellow is worth purchasing?
Your thoughts are appreciated!

i dont think it's worth it but it's fairly cheap so you won't be out too much money if you do decide to get it.

It adds about 100 horsepower. Seriously, it just reduces the push on the whisper lid a tad and looks nice. Other than that it does nothing.

Its easy to slam companies for charging what seems too much for a product especially if you can buy a simple replacement from homedepot for 6 bucks, but lets be fair for a minute. The reason the SLP part is expensive is because of "economies of scale" they will not be selling 100,000 of these agreed? If they were the cost would probably be $15, if they sell a few thousand a year they will be lucky. So what they are trying to recoup is the cost for the tooling, the machine tool to run the tool, and the material. Be thankful they are at least offering these parts as an option to buy.

Thanks guys! So I guess it's pointless and a waste of money to purchase a bellow. Now, I'll forget about that and put that money towards exhaust. Thanks again!

Airflow will be improved by removing the turbulence created by the accordian shape in the stock bellows. Improved airflow (smooth) will increase how much air can be sucked into the motor, which means more HP, but how much is the question. From what I have seen, the smooth bellows is good for about 2-3 rwhp, you decide if its worth it for $50. But wait we can do a quick analysis of the numbers. Comparing it to an LS6 intake and a catback exhaust system, we will assume the following:

1. Bellows is worth 2 rwhp @ $50
2. LS6 intake is worth 16 rwhp @ $460
3. Borla catback is worth 10 rwhp @ $600

Doing a simple calculation of $$ divided by rwhp we get:

1. Bellows costs $25/hp
2. LS6 intake costs $30/hp
3. Borla CB costs $60/hp

The bellows is the best deal per HP gained, if the numbers are accurate. I think it is entirely reasonable to see 2 rwhp from the bellows, therefore its a good deal.

Cool

I have the new bellow from ls1-motorsports. i can't really notice too big of a difference, but i heard its good for 3-5hp. maybe a waste of 50 bucks, but theres a saying...go big or go home. I dont like to lose, and every bit helps if you ask me. get all those little things, and they add up, so when the supercharger 98 ****stang gt pulls up, you can beat the crap out of him on motor...like me.

I have one. I don't know if it added any power but it looks cool. I also did some research on it before I bought it and found some posts about the fenco hoses from home depot either falling off or even collapsing in on itself because of the vacuum created by the engine. I don't know if this is true but I went the safe route and bought the slp bellows.

Yeah sure, but Fernco costs $3/hp by your own reasoning...

I bought the SLP bellows, mostly for the sake of appearance. If it was a bit longer I'd be happier with the fit, and I haven't noticed any improvement in the way the car runs, but I didn't expect to. It definitely looks better than the OEM piece, though. I don't regret it.
