SLP MAF (Service Engine Light)
SLP MAF (Service Engine Light)
Hey-
I just installed my SLP MAF Sensor on my car the other day. Driving to work for 13 miles in the cool morning went just fine, but when driving home in 90+ degree heat, the "Service Engine Soon" light went off. I have heard that some who have installed the SLP MAF have had a similar problem with the light coming on and I was wondering if detaching the battery to reset the system will be enough to fix it (I'm at work right now so I can't go out in the parking lot and detach the battery).
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Les

I would check the wire that connects to the MAF sensor, 90% of the time it is cuase you left this unpluged, also check the IAT sensor on the airbox. Dont reset the CPU by unplugging the batterey. When I did that my car wanted to idle at 2500 rpm. Turn the key to on and take out the PC Bat and PC ign fuses. I think thats what they are, someone else second that though.
Leave the key in the ON position, remove both fuse covers under the hood. Now remove the PCM BAT and PCM IGN fuses. I normally take the key out, replace the fuses and crank the engine.
Your car won't idle that great for a few minutes. Don't give it any gas, just let it sit there. It might take care of the light for good. I believe the error has to occur for 6 cycles for the SES light to light up.
Just pulling the battery cables won't fully reset the PCM. It also makes a Theftlock radio display LOC, and you will have to enter your unlock code.
Also, make sure you got the air bridgehose clamps on there tight. A vacuum leak with cause the SES light to come on.

Hey guys,
Just to let you all know, I fixed the problem, and here's all I did:
1. Unhook the battery and softboot the computer
Simple as ever. Problem solved.
Thanks for all the tips though b/c if the softboot didn't work, I would've had to go with plan B...or C.
