SLP Loudmouth Installation?

I just bought a SLP Loudmouth catback and i'm just curious how hard its gonna be to take off the stock exhaust and put this one on. Is it possible to do this with just a jack and jack stands? How high off the ground do i need to jack it up? How difficult?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
THANKS!!

Hi 1badLS1M6,

I did not do my LM install, my speed shop did it for me but they did have to cut the existing exhaust near where it goes over the axel. I have heard that you have to drop the rear axel if you want to remove it intact.

I know that many people do this install themselves but I have ten thumbs and I was better off letting someone else do it for me.

I also have the Loudmouth and I installed it myself in my garage.
I just put the car on jack stands... used the highest setting to allow the most space.
I ended up having to cut the I-pipe twice, but you can probably just cut it once right before it goes over the axle. I also cut it right where it attatches to the muffler.
Getting the stock I-pipe off takes some pulling, and be sure to tighten everything. But overall it is not a hard job.
And you'll love it when you're done! That first time starting the car after putting the Loudmouth on is awesome!

did this with a help of a friend, on a driveon lift.

I could see doing this on a set of jackstands, set to the highest level. if youdo that, I'd recommend getting a sawzall or something to cut the pipes. using a hacksaw standing up was alraedy a PITA

Cool Not Bad at all

It's not that bad I did mine my self you'll love the sound. just jack the passenger rear of the car what ever you feel confortable with. Where the slip collor is is the only hard part of the exhaust to get off i had about 25000 miles on my car when i attemted this and it was stuck on like glue. I broke it free buy vibrating it with a sawsall. Try and turn it first. that might work. Idon't know where you live but if the cops down there care about how loud you car is you will get pulled over. IT IS VERY LOUD.

Thanks for all the replies. My friend works at a shop and i might be able to use one of the service bays to lift the car and install it. Otherwise i'll be doing it in the driveway. The way it sounds, the hardest part is getting the stock stuff off. The LM should be easier to put on. I'm gonna get it dynoed after I get the exhaust on and see where i'm at.
Also, I'm not used to the feel of LS1's yet and by the butt-o-meter the car doesnt feel like lightening, but when i look at the speedo its moving like crazy. But i'm gonna get it dynoed for peace of mind just to make sure i'm where i should be stock.
Thanks!

PS. This is my first Z28. I owned a 1989 RS 305 for 13 years so i'm sure i'll have plenty more questions about my Z!

Just wanted to let you all know how it turned out. Now i cant wait to get it dynoed.
