Question SLP Lid and MAF question?

Is it worth getting the SLP LID? I have a 98 WS6. I was told that the WS6 and SS had a better lid than the normal ta's and Z28. Anyone know if this is true?

Also I see that slp is selling their Mass aifflow sensor for about 150. I looked in jegs and summit and they have this thing for 330. Is slp's any good and worth getting?

ws6 and ss dont have lips. they use the "functional" hood for ram air. ALthough its argued as to its effectiveness and I know many SS people who opt for a lid and not use the factory "ram air".

I am looking at the whisper and SLP lids personally. I will know which one I am getting sunday after I go to the SLP customer appreciation day.

as for the MAF.. I think I would opt for the ends or the SLP unit.. I have been hearing too many complaints lately about the GMAF. (you can find it on ebay new for like 280)

They absolutely DO have lids... the factory ram air is not affected by the lid because the air is not taken in through the top of the factory airbox... it's taken in underneath through the hole in the front. From what I know, the factory WS6 and SS lid is no different than the "regular" non-ramair models.

A lid is definetly worth getting. It's good for about 10 hp. The lids are the same on an ss and z28 but on a ws6 the lid is raised up a bit for more air flow. As for the maf sensor, I just bought ported maf ends and autotapped my car to make sure it wasn't running lean. Everything's been working out just fine.

What I've gathered from reading through these boards is that some of these induction mods aren't compatible with Hypertech power tuning, such as an aftermarket MAF sensor or IAT sensor. SLP even puts it in their product description - "NOTE: For use with stock tuning."

So, if you want to use a HPP3, you have to stick with the stock MAF sensor? What about MAF ends?

From what I've heard the hpp3's power programming is a waste of money. If I had the money, I would spend an extra 100 and get my pcm dyno tuned by a shop. In this case, they will tune your car with all your mods and your car will be running perfect. Speed Inc. says that even a stock car can see 15 hp with their pcm tuning.

You're gonna spend $450 to $500 ("custom tuning") for 15 hp gain??? I would never buy a HPP3 NEW - for $350-$375. I got a used one for $200 along with a 160* stat to lower the engine temp. It was well worth it to me living in South Florida just to do that.
