im going to be ordering it in the next month(W2 money) but it says you need to buy an install kit and the cats...
i dont want cats.. and do i need the install kit or can i use generic parts... j/w
this is MAINLY for ppl you HAVE the install, BUT if you know what your talking about, not what you THINK you know, but rly know... i want to order it all at once, and install the same weekend..(friends a mechanic but is a stang lover, knows nothing about SLP , and little about camaros. he has a custom exhaust.. ok off topic..
anyone with valid/good info pls respond
and yes i know SLP is over priced and other brands are good, but i want this...

I was like you and wanted the SLP setup. You will regreat getting these headers. Have fun putting them in and have fun justifying the money you spent when there are so many better setups out there that cost a whole lot less and have a coating that will last....
as i've tried telling all others, pass on the slp's and get hookers/jet-hot/pacesetters. my buddy has slp's and they hang SOOOOOO low, his lower pipes are always scraping on speed bumps and he just has the firehawk springs!

The SLP headers are by far the most popular that we carry and install. The installation isn't bad at all, it's just a little tight on the passenger's side. If you need some more room to slide them in carefully loosen the engine cradle bolts to lower that down a little. That will give you enough room to rotate them into position. The installation kit is recommended. You could get away with "generic parts" but that will be more of a headache when your trying to chase everything down. We have offroad pipes available that include 02 simms to keep the computer happy.

ok, doubt ill get SLP, 2 dif local shops i emailed last night both do not recommend them, said there good but, not worth money/hassle... but now NO IDEA what to get, ever heard of FLP?

FLP's are VERY well known in the lt1 garage...
they are very good, but like the SLP's are quite expensive.
i would do a search for Pacesetter and read some of the reviews...they have been A++ from what i've seen.

Klypto, the FLPs are a nice setup but the only way I could justify spending $1200 on them is if I had to worry about emissions. Even then, you could still run into problems, being that the cats have been moved from the factory location.
If you're willing to spend some money, I'd personally recommend Kooks, QTP, Thunder Racing or PPC (they're all pretty much the same design and around the same price). The Kooks and QTPs are 304 SS though and are not coated...because they don't "need" it. However the uncoated 304 SS will not keep that nice shine for very long...so they'll look kinda shi**y but they'll never rust.
Oh and install was a breeze with my QTPz...yo.

i live 45 min from teh thunder racing headquarters(i live in new orleans, there just north of me) i emailed then yesterday, they were the ones that highly recommended the FLP headers. said it would be 350$ to install.

Cory, it's your money man but I just looked and the FLPs are $1300 (I thought $1200 was a little steep). $1300 + tax + install...you're talking $1700+
. That's a lot of f***ing money to spend on some headers...IMO.

If you like the FLPs but don't need the extra "crap" then you should look into Dynatechs. MTI sells them but I dunno who else does (not Thunder to my knowledge).
If I were you though, I'd ask Thunder about their headers, they're $730 coated plus tax (because you live in LA)...and you'll need a Y-pipe too.
Also, if you've got a place to do it and a friend to help...consider doing the install yourself, it's really not that bad.

thanks all.. im going to drive up to thunder racing this weekend prob to talk to them directly, ask there personal opinion on what to do/prices. im either going thuynder racing headers or FLP i knwo FLP is good but more, but... even the thunder racing guy him self recomended them to me. not saying their headers arnt nice, but thats what he said.

I'm not sure if TR will or will not install off-road Y's (or basically just remove the cats) but most places that I know of, will not remove the cat(s). Pretty hefty fines for that.
