SLP cold air kit, for ss?

i just oredered slp's cold air indcution kit for my 2000 ss, and the application said for all v8 models, and i have been looking at other places and it says its not recoommended for ss or ws6 models, because it blocks off the front of the air box, wondering if anyone has put this on their ss models and can you leave the front of the air box open for the kit, to get air from both places

I think of you keep looking, you'll see that most people get better gains from the cold air kits than through the SS hood. As unsettling as it is (making a costly semi-functional hood totally functionless), go ahead and block the front of the air box when you get the cold air pkg installed. The air down below is much better than that which twists above through the hood.

You could always have fun experimenting yourself at the track!

I installed the SLP cold air kit on my 99 SS and I noticed a good gain in power on the highway. I didn't block off the front of my airbox and I think it was a good investment. I will seal the airbox one day and see if it makes a solid difference. I also have a Whisper air lid and that was a noticable improvement too!

Thumbs up

I have the SLP high flow pack which came with the SLP cold air kit in my 02 SS. You can leave the front open which I did and I definitely noticed a difference in performance (along with the SLP MAF) and it gave the car a LITTLE more throatier sound. I like it!
