Should I switch my exhaust?

Currently, I have a heads/cam car with Pacesetter Long tube headers, Pacesetter off road y-pipe, and an SLP loudmouth exhaust, and no catalytic convertor. The car sounds crazy when you get on the gas hard, but doesn't sound all that great when just driving around town-just sort of loud.

I was wondering if you think a Borla exhuast or Corsa exhaust would sound better then my current setup, or should I just leave it how it is? Also, I'm assuming the loudmouth would be louder then either of the two above right?

Thanks,
Erik

well the borla will be just as loud if you uncap it...

i say if you are planning on spending that kind of money go with the GMMG

it seems to sound BADASS on uncatted cars...H/C should be even better

I've never heard your car before, but unless it's obnoxiously loud, I'd just leave it, the LM is a good-flowing system.

You could replace the LM's resonator with a Dynomax bullet muffler to quiet things down a bit instead of buying a totally new cat-back.

I'm gonna disagree here, while I agree the systems are a bit pricey, the quality of both is un-matchable and if you have the jack to spend they are well worth the price. I had borla on my camaro and just this morning installed a corsa cat-back on my 98 T/A. The combination of sound, quality, and style (tips) is absolutely unbeatable, bar none. With gmmg you may get a better sound (although I LOVE the sound of my corsa) but you sacrifice it for hideous tips (and pay a very similar price anyway!), with the loudmouth you might make a hair more power, but its just so damn loud. Of course all of the above is a matter of opinion. But, if you desire a quality exhaust with attractive tips, get the Corsa/Borla. If you want a cheap exhaust with ugly (un rolled, un polished, straight cut) tips, THEN get a hooker/magnaflow/dynomax or whatever else...

OH, and to answer the actual question posed in the thread, Yes the car would be quieter with either of the exhaust systems in question, and it would sound more refined (not sure if this would be "better" to you), although on a heads/cam car this is all relative.

Re: Should I switch my exhaust?

You can't beat true duals for power and sound. They'll be loud, but those that went from an open cutout or uncatted LM say the TSP true duals are quieter and alot deeper. I would either go with that or slap a 18" bullet onto your LM. If that doesn't do the trick, just go for true duals.

Yeah, add a bullet muffler in the i pipe to reduce the rasp.

by that logic, why not go to meineke or any other local muffler franchise and buy a $40 muffler from a dodge caravan?
