which should i do????
which should i do????
ok first i have a 98 ta a4 with 200k miles. stock runs fine but with a little more lifter noise from it's age.
should i replace the motor and tranny with a newer stock pull out and build up with heads, cam, bolt on's or rebuild my stock 200k motor and add the heads, cam, bolt on's?
I've found a few motors with tranny, wiring, pcm, all accessories pulled from a wrecked camaro for 2 grand. swears about 50k is on the cars when pulled.
i want to build it up to roughly 400 - 425 rwhp atleast plus add a small shot of nos. i plan of course to regear to 3.73 and go with a 3,500 or more stall.
car won't be a daily driver mostly just around town and a few passes at the track.
Thanks

With a 98 motor you can only hone the cylinders. There's not enough liner for a rebore. With 200k on yours you would probably need a new block and new pistons and then all new bearings and maybe a new crank. That would put you above the price of the takeout.
