Should i change my belt?

Hey guys, i was looking at my belt tongiht and noticed some small slits in it, nothing major but some small ones, should i change it? Also, how do you change the thermostat on an LS1, what all do you have to take off to get to where it is?

Re: Should i change my belt?

thermostat is on the left side of engine in front (facing front of car). Just follow the upper radiator hose to the engine and it is behind it.
As far as the belt, it seems it is showing signs of wear (just starting), probably wouldn't hurt to change.

belts fall into the "preventative maintenance" category....why not change it? unless you want it to fail when you are in another town, 2am and in the rain or snow?

the ls1 stat is easy to get to, but you have to replace the whole neck/thermostat housing
