SES light with the fan mod
SES light with the fan mod
Ok, so before everyone tells me not to start the car with the fans on, Ill let you know that the switch is in the off position when I start the car.
However, at an autocross a week or two ago, I turned on the fans while sitting in the grid, and, although the temp gauge was not sitting at 210 (like it is programmed to do) the engine was significantly warmed up. About 2 seconds later the SES light pops on, and stays for the next 10 cycles of the key or so. Reason I had em on, was to keep air moving over the motor so it wouldnt warm all the way up to 210, and to keep air moving over the PS pump (i know, I need a cooler), which has a tendancy to run real hot if I do my runs back to back like I was doing.
What gives? Engine too cold to have the fans on... and it knows it?

Mine SES light comes on about 50% of the time when I flip them on while the motor is tunning. I don't start the car with them on....I turn them on after the car is already running. The light comes on sometimes and sometimes it doesn't.
So, I use them mostly in the pits when the engine isn't running. I can;t wait to get tuning done so they come on earlier while the engine is running.
