Post SES light after body work and exhaust

My SS got rearend(12k worth of damage) about a month ago, finally got it back on Wed, with the GMMG exhaust. The SES light was on when I got it back. My mechanic ran the codes and it turns out that it's something to due with emissions. I don't think the exhaust would have thrown the code, I'm thinking that the body shop guy did something wrong as he was putting it back together. Any ideas.

I'm sure it's gonna wind up at chevy, but since it was an emissions code and the new exhaust I'm not sure they are going to honor the warrenty. So I figured I'd ask here first to try and get some input.

It's a 2001, because I'm sure that will make some small difference.

Take it to a GM shop and have it checked. I don't know if they'll honor your warranty or not(I think they will), but it may be relatively inexpensive. I just had my 2001 SS checked out this past week because of the SES light, and it turned out to be a loose wire on my Air Flow sensor. It was covered under warranty, but couldn't of been too expensive to fix.

early 2001 (as well as 2000) models had a problem with bad cats, usually the driver's side.

I had some exhaust work done on my '01 Z28 and within 10 minutes of leaving the shop, the SES light came on. The dealer replaced the driver's side cat, no questions asked.

Later, my '01 TransAm also threw the same code, but not after any exhaust work ... it just threw the code around 30,000 miles. Again, the dealer replaced the cat, no questions asked.
