SES light
SES light
My service engine soon light came on today. Can I somehow acess the onboard diagnostics thru some sort of sequence or should I take my car to autozone (I heard they hook up a diagnostic machine for free). Any ideas on what it is? My guess is O2 sensor but I dont really have any idea.
You need someone with AutoTap (or another scanning program) to take a look at it for you. Coming to Memphis anytime soon? If so, I can scan it for you.
Or, as you mentioned, you can take it to AutoZone and have them scan it for free.
What really sucks is that a few of us were just in Nashville last Saturday. We could have met up with you and taken a look at it.
I suggest that you head over to www.mtfba.org and post in the Middle TN F-Body Association message board and ask if anyone is around you (Most of them are in Nashville) and could hook up their AutoTap and scan your codes.
Without knowing symptoms, you can't diagnose the SES light. It could be anything from a loose gas cap to major engine problems.

Apparently my gas cap wasnt screwed on tight enough. I always check it tho and the funny part is that the light didnt come on until I had less then a quarter of a tank left, after filling it up all the way a week earlier.
