SES light and 6th gear
Hello folks!
For those of you that already know me. My car is working fine after the repairs the dealer did to it(fuel tank, radio, etc) BUT I'm having a weird problem that I can't figure out. Every time I drive my car in 6th gear and I drop my speed to less than 50mph I got the SES light. I can drive in any other gear and drop my speed to any speed and this don't happens. ONLY happens in 6th gear. I know that I have to check my car with a scan tool to know the problem code. But, any of you had a similar problem? I will appreciate any help thanks.

My car is a LT1, but it does the same thing. I think the main reason for this is below 60mph is really just too little speed for using 6th gear on stock gearing. If youre going below 50mph in 6th gear, youre doing under 1000rpms, and your motor should be struggling. My best guess is that it probably creates some rich condition in the exhaust or something, detected by the 02 sensos and hence the SES light.

Strange, does sound like lugging the engine with too low of RPM's.
You should stay in 6th no slower than 55 MPH when slowing down and not shift into 6th till 60 MPH while accelerating at the earliest. As long as you still have the stock rear end gears. Later>>>>>>>>>

Did you SES light goes OFF soon? I think the car need more than one day of driving to reset the light. I haven't tried that. Like I told before, I can drive my car more than 1000miles or many days and the light will never come on. But I soon I drive in 6th gear and let my engine drop less than 50mph in that gear the SES will come ON within minutes. If you or anyone have more information, please let me know. Thanks
