service engine light on!!

service engine light on!!

my light went on for my Z. I went to get it checked out and i was told that my knock sensor's are blown. my car seems to run fine, but not sure if im loosing HP, sense the sensor is under manifold, any advise on what the effect could be with this problem. thanks

If you motor ever detonates with them not working then it could hurt the internals. The computer uses the counts from the 2 sensors to modify the timing incase there's knock.
Now if you're stock and running good gas in a cool climate you could put off changing them for a while.

When you set a KS code, the PCM uses the low octane timing table exclusively. Also anytime you get a code read or post about one, say what the actual code number is.

the guy never told me codes and like a dumbass i didnt ask! first he said it was the o2 sensors but i cahnge those and the problem continued. thats when he checked again and said it was the knock sensor, its just one, but if i get under that, im just going to change both.thanks either way. keep posted

Just wait for the MIL to come on again and write down the code number, description isn't important. If you're getting it read by some place like auto zone I'd bring it to a different store.

i got it read at a chevy dealer. so it shouldent be any bull.
