Service Engine Light

Tonight my SES light came on and the car is running fine. I did go to the track last night and just got back from "spirited" driving and the damn light comes on just before I get home!!

About a week ago the light came on and the car was running like crap, sputtering & jerking! I unplugged the battery for 10 minutes and cranked it back up and the problem seemed to be gone!

I've only had the car for 5 weeks, traded my 01 Cobra vert in on it. This is my first GM. Is the SES light coming on and off normal????

I brought it to the dealer 2 days after I got it with the same problem and they replaced a O2 sensor.. Should I bring it back or what....

Thanks for any suggestions

It could be a clogged catalytic converter. The driver's side cat can sometimes go bad on 01 SS's.

Take it back to the dealer. I had the same thing happen to me. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced an O2 sensor. Two weeks later, I brought the car back in, and they replaced the driver's side cat.

The car has been running great since. But to answer your other question, camaro's have been known to have that pesky SES light going on and off every so often.

It's those damn cats....

I had that same problem with the driver's side cat as well. I was driving at night and the SES light came on, I thought I might have screwed things up racing a vette....the light would go off then on while driving, took it in and the dealership told me it was the cat and that they would replace it - under warranty . 2 Days later, had my car back and have never seen the problem again. Take it in and have them replace the cat.
