Re: RPM at Idle??

If its a 6 speed manual thats about right, if it is an automatic it should be around 550.

Re: RPM at Idle??

with the autos, i think it is different when in park and when in drive.

700 in park or neutral sounds about right

550 in drive as well

Re: RPM at Idle??

Thought I was the only one that wondered about that.....

Always seemed like mine (A4) ran a little low in gear at a light after it warmed up (about 600). Must admit it induced a slight chubby having the car shake at idle- I thought it was just screaming for a hotter cam to really make it thump!

Re: RPM at Idle??

I've always noticed the six speeds idle higher when coasting out of gear.

Re: RPM at Idle??

I believe mine at idle in drive were around 500, in park around 6 or 700.

Re: RPM at Idle??

My car is usually idling at about 900. Used to be at exactly 1k, but with my new transmission, it went to 900. Seems to stay there whether in park or drive.
