It's time to change the tranny fluid and I'd like to try Royal Purple. The problem is, I can only find the Synchromax and it doesn't say it's for cars that require dextron III. Has anyone used it?
Thanks!

or AMSOIL..
Honestly it really doesnt matter that much.. I just did all the fluids in my car.. I dont see one being that much better/worse than the others as long as they are synthetics...

I will say that I prefer the ease of mail order shopping over the go to store and hunt it down method..

If you have an M6 I think its like 4qts you will need.

I would have preferred to use Red Line, but I couldn't find it in any stores. I already bought the Royal Purple; I just wasn't sure if I could use it since it didn't mention anything about dextron III on the bottle.

As long as its ATF fluid it should be good.

Mine is synthetic ATF fluid. The owners manual states to use ATF fluid in an M6.

Try shooting Royal Purple an email. They are usually good about responding.

You should try to find something that is comparable to Dexron III. It is compatible with the electronics in the transmission. Even though electronics were used in transmissions that ran Dex. II, they were not as sensitive as the newer solenoids in your trans. that are pulse width-modulated (pwm), like your pcs and tcc/pwm solenoid. The older ones were on/off or a status switch. You probably won't notice a difference using the specialty synthetics but they may be a better bet if you are lazy about maintenance like me. Hope this helps.

well from what I saw on Horsepower TV on tnn about 3 - 6 months ago, they changed all fluids on a 98 - 2000 z28 with Royal Purple (Engine, Rear and Trans), put the car on their Dyno before changing and after. The camaro did pick up and extra 8 - 10 HP by just chaning engine, trans and rear end fuids with Royal Purple... Hope this helps...

Would RP happen to be a sponser of that show, by any chance? GM HIGH TECH PERFORMANCE saw NO statistically significant gain or loss in a 2000 SS by switching the motor oil to RP.

Funny you mention that show, I talked to the guy who owned that car, and asked if there were any dyno tricks or what not to make RP sound better. He said no and everything was legit, I asked him how he got his car on and he said his friend knew someone from the show and thats how he got on. So maybe RP does give a little power increase when all fluids are changed

I did it using AMSOIL.. wrote a review on it (see sig)
I found no gain at all.. I find it hard to believe 8-10rear wheel HP.. on a stock car?! no way.. reason is that our cars already have rear syn fluid.. so just changing the two? nope..
i dont buy it

Not on a new car.. on an older higher mileage car? Maybe.. but still not 8-10rwhp..

Well from what RP and even Horsepower TV was saying about RP, is the fact that it reduces the friction so that is how they can get the extra HP..
