Rim Question
Rim Question
Hi I've been going to the track alot in the past month. And have noticed quite a loss of tread on my tires. Normal I know, But I wanna buy an extra pair of rims to put M/T E.T. Streets onto, so I don't waste my all weather tires (And the're crap for traction) I know in my area (Tampa) I can go down to Cophers ( the local u pull it junkyard) And pick up a pair of 3rd gen Fbody rims for real cheap. I was just wanting to know, if I bought rims off of a 3rd gen would they bolt right up to my 98 camaro z28 Without problems? I've tried searching myself, but I'm not sure what backspacing will be ok and what won't. If you know If they will work, or what I will have to do to safely mount them and run at the track. Please chime in.
Thank you
Thank you

Where are you getting the rims for that price? And can I find it around here in Tampa FL? I'd love to pick up two of those, I just don't know where to look other then at junkyards. And the ones that have newer vehicles pull the parts and sell it at close to dealer prices. So I was going to go to a u pull it and pick up cheap ones but they only have older vehicles. I once saw an lt1 style forth gen but it was a v6. At the time I saw it I wasn't looking to pick up two rims, so I avoided it. Now that I'm looking they don't get them in I go there almost every week. Your help is appreciated. I'd love it if I could pick up two salad shooter style rims for 50 bucks.
Look in the for sale section here. I picked up some firebird 5 hole rims for $70 shipped.
Edit: I also got some Hoosier QTP's (same st MT ET Streets) in the for sale section brand new for $200 from another member.

Not in Tampa, but shipping shouldn't be more than 10 bucks a piece.

The deals are out there, just keep your eyes open. You might not find those deals from your local junkyard, though...
Happy hunting!
I think the 15X10 wheels from Summit fit - these are 50$ (new) - tires should also be cheaper in 15"
You could also check Ebay - the demand on 8X16 stock wheels can't be too big. You may find some auction that somebody started at 1$ and nobody bids.... then just bid in the last few minutes or seconds....
