Question Replacing my Z-28's Lt1 with a LSX?

I've tried searching this topic to no avail. I realize k-member, harness, transmission have to be exchanged out. What else? Anyone have the exact process documented?

I have no idea why your search isn't working for you. Try some different search terms. It's been disscussed here a few times.

An LSX should be the same as an LS1 swap in terms of which parts you'll need. That might help your search.

What kind of power level are you thinking of? You're probably going to need some additional stuff (built trans, driveshaft, rear end, etc).

as with any swap like this...the biggest issue is gremlins.

Klypto swapped an lsx engine into a 98+ v6 camaro...and it never ran right that i know of.

having a donor car is ideal...gives you those little things that make the swap easier.

Sorry, I did not give more info. I know all about the need for other drivetrain upgrades.

For obvious reasons, I would much rather build a LS1 or LSX engine as opposed to my LT1. The dollar per horsepower ratio is much greater I guess I should have thought about that before I purchased the car.

Oh well, thanks for the input.

a properly built LT1 with a supercharger can make some good numbers.

but if you want to stay N/A...the lsx is the way to go

Steering rack & shaft, Converted fuel system (vette Fuel filter w/regulator), Headers, Y-pipe, Intake, since you have a 6-speed you need clutch, flywheel & Slave cylinder. Like others have said your best bet would be to find a 00-02 Donar 6-speed car and start swapping the parts.

The harness will need to be modified to work with you lt1 car though so expect to spend another $150-500 for the conversion. Then don't forget any performance mods you want to do as well.

I guess my main question is how do you integrate the LS1 PCM & harness to the exsisting car wiring harness? Is it plug and play? Or, do you have to cut & splice?

I have a Speartech converted LS1 harness to make it all plug n play to my 97 car. You get the LS1 harness send it to him and he will convert it to work for $500

I've heard of other companys doing it cheaper but I havent heard anything bad about john so I went with him

I was thinking of swapping a LS1 or LS2 in my 69 Camaro.I would think it would be easier to swap a LSX into your Z28 then swapping an LS! in my 69 camaro.
