The Replacement's Mods?

well i was planning to get an ls1 very soon , well as soon as i sold this car...

http://tony6650.fotopic.net/show_col...n.php?id=23141

BUT LAST MONDAY SOME JERK HELD ME AT GUNPOINT AND TOOK MY CAR AND MY WALLET(this is the very short version)....

i live close to the border so everyone's guess is its in pieces ...i hate to face the hard truth but my baby is probably being molested on a daily basis...someone elses hands on her just doesnt seem right ..... we only had liability on it cuz im 19 and well i think u know the rest...but thankfully im a very blessed person and have the best parents in the world so i wasnt on foot too long. My pops said no sports cars for a while so we found a great deal on a 2000 chevy silverado Z71 Ext cab sports side...w/ the 5300 vortec. Now the pulls has mad power but sounds like a baby(totally stock)..so i was thinking just to give it that extra OOMPHH...how about porting and descreening the MAF, getting an FIPK or Homemade cold air system, and a cutout before the muffler....u know so sometimes it'll be loud and sometimes it wont., a TB bypass...is there anything else thats cheep and would help out?...I would also appreciate it if someone could tell me how to reset the computer. Let me know what u think thanks Tony

the reason i ask is because i hear the 5300 is a derivative of the LS-1..so i figured it would like the same type of free mods...am i right?...thanks Tony

you're in the right direction.

the same mods hold true for any engine. easier and cooler air in, and easier exhaust out.

so a cold air and some type of exhaust would benefit the car greatly. from what i've seen of trucks the stock airboxes are typically VERY restictive, so that would be my first mod.

I doubt you'll see much from resetting the computer. Reprogramming is a different story. My dad put a borla cat back and a Hypertech and his 99 runs sounds awesome. It sounds like a Vette. He ought to put some sway bars on it but I learned a long time ago not to tell him what to do. They do make CAI for them too. We both have fiberglass bed covers too. If there was only one thing I was allowed to do to my truck, it would be the bed cover. You can get headers too. There's enough room to get creative with duct work if you get bored. Make a ram air system that pulls air from under the bumper (or anywhere).

Hmmm... I wonder if the wifey would like ram air. It's her truck after all.
