I agree on the speaker quality, way sub par, i blew both rear speakers(ones by the rear seats) and if any are aware they are dvc so good luck gettin them anywhere but the dealership other than that all i have to say bout the ls1 is WOW
Re: Reliablity
GM gave us an amazing engine but decided the rest of the drivetrain should be weak. The t56 can last a long time if you upgrade the hydros in it, but the stock 4L60E isn't very strong. Our 10 bolts are crap if you have a t56, but will serve a decently long life with an automatic
The LS1 is pretty easy to work on. Hell the entire car is now that I think about it
I like the interiors on these cars. Sure there's plastic here and there, but oh well. It looks nice at least. I'm very comfortable when driving, although sitting in the passenger seat sucks. (thanks to that big hump in the floor) I've never sat in the back of a 4th gen, but I could imagine it would suck too. But nobody sits in the back of mine. They don't have anymore to sit

Re: Reliablity
LS1's are powerful, but not as reliable as LT1's i've seen way more LS1 motors blow with way less milage than LT1's. My friend is still romping on him LT1 camaro with 205,000 miles no engine rebuild. I highly doubt an LS1 will ever make it to 200k without a rebuild. The 98 LS1's had some major bugs in the bottom end, but in 2000 and uo the LS1's are pretty good.
Re: Reliablity
You dont think an ls1 is as reliable as an lt1? Thats funny. So your saying an engine designed for the most part in the 50's is going to be more reliable than one designed in the nineties.
Ls1 will hit 200k no problem. Mine has 120k and has zero problems. Most previous gen small blocks are pretty much junk by then.
Maybe you should UPGRADE and then you will see the light that god shines upon the LS1

Nothing wrong with lt1(I own 2) but to say its better than an ls1 in any way is rediculas. Technology has moved on people............sorry, you have an old car. My ls1 is old now but is lightyears ahead of lt1.

You've GOT to be kidding me. From your user ID, I detect you own an LT1. The base of the LT1 was designed in the '50s and the rest was designed in the 1980's. Go read on the LT1 one board about all the optispark problems, waterpump problems, sparkplug access issue, etc.
I think you should rethink this statement.
Ben
P.S. There are reasons the LS1 was introduced AFTER the LT1- it's called technology.
Re: Reliablity
I'm not saying the LS1 isn't a better motor, i'm saying it doesn't seem to hold up to as much abuse as an LT1 can. (Like Nitrous for example) I know 2 different people that blew their LS1 motors early, one only had 50k miles. But they were 98's, and like i said 98's had some bugs in the bottom end, i think cheap main bearings if i remember correctly.
